Buying a new car doesn't necessarily have to be a big financial or time investment. It is really just about knowing what your options are and acting accordingly. The very first step is coming up with a budget – how much you are and aren't willing to spend. This will then determine whether you are looking for a new or second hand car.
The first instinct is often to think immediately that you need a brand new car, and if you have the money for this or for a monthly payment plan then why not. But if your budget is a bit more limited a second hand car will do just fine.
Second hand cars have a bit of a bad reputation, but really it isn't the car, it is the salesman and the lot you get it from, so don't immediately mistrust a used BMW for sale sign. If you find a reliable second hand car dealership then your new car won't fall apart down the block.
There really is no need to buy a brand new car. Second hand cars come in all shapes and sizes – from those with low mileage and high prices to older, better driven cars with higher mileages.
Obviously the younger car with less mileage is going to be more expensive but it will also then last you a bit longer. Once you know what you want, finding a car is simply a matter of looking.
