Can you find Used Ferrari Cars?

When Enzo Ferrari founded his Scuderia Ferrari (Ferrari Stable) he had no intention of ever producing road cars. The Ferrari Stable was essentially a training facility for talented amateur drivers who were interested in competitive racing. As an experienced driver himself, Ferrari trained and sponsored many famous Italian drivers.

His drivers always competed in Alfa Romeo cars and the company was so impressed with his success that Alfa Romeo hired him to run their motor racing department in 1938.

During the war years, Alfa Romeo was confiscated by the Fascist Regime of Benito Mussolini. Ferrari lost his job and was unable to sponsor or train competitive drivers for over four years. Money was understandable tight, and since the only thing Enzo Ferrari knew was cars, he decided to design one of his own. Is it possible to find used Ferrari cars?

The first Ferrari car, the Tipo 815, was completed in 1940. But because of the war it could not be raced. By this time, Ferrari had managed to establish an actual working factory in Maranello, Italy. Because he needed money to fund his beloved Scuderia Ferrari after the war, Enzo Ferrari reluctantly designed and built his first road car. The Ferrari 125 S was released in 1947 to rave reviews and continuous sales requests. But because the cars were handmade in a small factory, Ferrari and his staff could only produce a few hundred of them.

To this day, Ferrari remains one of the most respected and limited automotive brands in the world. The company only sells about six thousand cars each year. Because of their rarity and unrivaled quality, these cars are extremely expensive. Due to their scarcity and the fact that few owners are willing to part with them, finding a used Ferrari is never easy. But it you do manage to locate one, you should expect to pay well above the market rate, especially for classic models like the Ferrari F40.
